I have two pieces currently in the annual 'Art en Blanc' show at Gallery 8680 on Main Street off of Preston Road in Frisco. They are 'Berber en Blanc', also known as 'Indignation' which features a captive female Berber, 1960 French/Algerian conflict. She was one of hundreds, maybe thousands, of documented captives. Her expression says it all. The painting is mostly white. I used the lightest grays I had to paint her then glazed over it several times with titanium white to achieve the most washed out version I could while maintaining her presence. The other painting was an experimentation. He's my backyard Buddha that I ordered off Etsy and I just love his face. I plan to do a series from him. This particular one, I was working on with no particular show in mind but I thought I would submit since the main subject is white albeit with a very colorful background. Turns out, it normally would not be accepted since the show is about using mostly white, however there was a low turnout for this particular show so it got in. Reception is this coming Friday, October 6th, 7-9pm.
