The story behind this idea is that there was a local art show entry with the theme of 'Night'. Well, that's right up my alley since I love to paint dark images with a glowing component. The problem was that I didn't have anything ready, so I would have to think of what I wanted to paint specifically for that show. After pondering for a while, I finally settled on a drive-in theater. I'm a kid of the 70's and 80's and saw many 'classic' movies at the drive-in theater: Star Wars, Jaws, and Alien, to name a few. A light bulb went off, and the kicker is that I can put any scene on the screen that I want—the possibilities are endless! Indiana Jones, Batman, The Big Lebowski, and Metropolis are just a few ideas I had, but for this, I decided to go with one of my personal favorites, Aliens.
Well, about this same time, I was getting ready for my first art festival—indoors!— Art in the Arena. My main goal for this event is to network and meet potential future fans and collectors by way of news subscribers. I was trying to think of incentives to get such a list built, and another light bulb went off. I was getting good feedback and ideas on my Alien drive-in movie painting called 'Get Away' that I thought, "Hey! I could offer this as a give-away prize and let the winner pick any favorite scene of theirs (keeping it family-friendly, of course) that they want!"
Also, what a great gift for a movie buff! I have several ideas for future offerings that revolve around this concept! Sign up now so you don't miss out on the chance to win this unique piece and so you'll be in the know about what's around the corner!
